Meet the Liver!

The liver plays a vital role in our overall health—and most people don't realize just how essential it is. In fact, more than a third of Americans (35%) don’t know that you need your liver to live.*

That's why we're hitting the road—to spark new conversations about this important organ and shine a light on a disease that too many people don’t see coming—MASH.

MASH = metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.

Jamie Watson, former Major League Soccer player and MASH Across America host

“I pledge to lead an active lifestyle, with a balanced diet, and I will continue to learn the best habits to maintain a healthy liver for me and my family. I will take the lessons learned from my mother who suffers with MASH, and tell her story so others can learn from her experiences."

Jamie Watson, former Major League Soccer player, broadcaster and MASH Across America host

Watch Out for
Fatty Liver and MASH

It's normal to have a small amount of fat in the liver. But too much fat can lead to a condition known as "fatty liver," which is part of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

If fatty liver is ignored, it can become a more serious disease: MASH.

MASH can cause inflammation, cell damage and scarring in the liver. If left unmanaged, MASH can lead to serious health problems.

Understand the Facts

MASH often has no symptoms and if it goes unnoticed and unmanaged for too long, it can lead to serious health problems like cirrhosis or the need for a liver transplant. Know your liver status with a test for liver scarring. Learn more about fatty liver and MASH, including how to find a specialist to test for scarring on 'Taking on Fatty Liver and MASH.'
